Australia Volunteer Program
Hello!
For those of you who do not know, my name is Chelsea and I am currently in college studying to become a marine animal veterinarian. As a young girl I have always been fascinated with sea animals. In fact, at one point all I wanted to do was swim with dolphins for the rest of my life. My silly childhood dream followed me as I grew but instead of just swimming with dolphins, it grew into a more profound goal. Along with my love for the sea, I also have an extreme desire to help others in need. By combining these two passions, I have decided on a career as a marine animal veterinarian. I am beyond excited for my bright future and am doing everything I can to get to where I want to be. Along with going to school, starting shortly I will be volunteering at a local wildlife zoo with the marine animals to gain expereince.
I have recently come across the experience and oppurtunity of a lifetime to volunteer in the Great Barrier Reef Conservation program in Australia . The program is twelve days long starting on July 3, 2015. The first half of the trip consists of obtaining a scuba diving certification along with learning and working with turtles at the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre on a nearby island. The remainder of the days will be spent on a boat, diving to collect data, observe the coral reef conditions, and survey the animals and plants surrounding the reef.
The program cost is 2,400. There is an additional fee for the plane ticket which is about another 1,500 plus any additional fees for passports ect. I am already saving all I can, but any help would be a blessing. The money for the program is due by April 29th.
Below I have included the link to the volunteer website which goes into more detail about this trip.
