Kathy's story begins about a few weeks ago when she noticed weakness in her legs. Although she had sinus surgery earlier this summer, and more recently pneumonia, this seemed to be unrelated. She was admitted to Meriter Hospital, and as the weakness became inability to move legs, arms and ultimately breathing muscles, she was moved to the ICU and placed on a ventilator. Kathy is fairly heavily sedated but nods to yes/no questions and simple requests. She is still the Kathy we all know and love!
