Coach Aly Cancer Treatment Expenses

My fellow coach and friend Aly Bermudez is headed into surgery tomorrow and will need to travel for a specific non-covered treatment afterwards, to treat her chemo-resistant ovarian cancer. Aly is a coach and friend who pours herself relentlessly into others. She now needs our love and support so she can put her energy into healing and not worrying about getting the treatment she needs to fight this. Aly is a beautiful soul and deserves all they help we can gather for her. ♥️

Aly Bermudez, is the head softball coach at New College of Florida and a pitching instructor serving the Sarasota and Fort Myers area. Aly was diagnosed with a rare type of ovarian cancer in March 2023 and underwent open surgery to have a 20cm mass removed along with her right ovary.

Last week Aly called an ambulance at 4am as she was experiencing extreme stomach pain and nausea. After being taken to the hospital and undergoing testing, another mass, this time 13cm, was found attached to her left ovary. Aly was in the hospital for two days being treated for internal bleeding caused by the mass.

Aly is undergoing surgery on Thursday December 14th to attempt to remove the mass and save at least part of the ovary that is left.

Only 31, she lives alone and has no family in Florida. She faces a difficult road ahead to prevent the cancer from coming back and save her ability to have children of her own some day. Losing both ovaries at a young age would be devastating for Aly. Her cancer is a mucinous carcinoma, a rare type of cancer that is chemo-resistant, meaning that traditional cancer treatments have been found to be ineffective. Luckily alternative treatments are available, but are expensive and not covered by insurance. Please help support Aly in this great time of need.
