Coach Bill Henderson - Medical Care & Assistance

Hellooooooo! We’re reaching out to the current and former swimming families and friends of Coach Bill Henderson. Coach suffered a stroke on Tuesday, July 27th. Luckily, colleagues caught it early, and he is receiving the best medical care possible at Stanford. Still, he is currently unable to speak and has limited mobility on his right side. The current prognosis is that he will need some supportive care and physical/occupational therapy.

Coach Bill is a man to whom thousands of people entrusted their children over decades. Our kids have flourished and blossomed under his expertise, and so many have come away better for knowing him. He is a man of solid principle, tireless work ethic, and a fantastic mix of dedication and fun (including an encyclopedic memory for movie trivia). And he is one of the biggest fans and cheerleaders for his swimmers anyone could imagine. Once you are one of his swimmers, you are ALWAYS one of his swimmers. And if you spend any time with him on deck, you will forever hear “Streamline!” or “Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!”

We know it is very early in this journey for Coach. Still, we wanted to get something set up as soon as possible to, hopefully, alleviate some of the worries he may have regarding the costs of his medical care and recovery. We will use this page to post updates on his prognosis. Please, if you can, donate to the fund and share the campaign as widely as possible. It is our chance to give back to a man who has given so much of himself to us over the years.
