Coach Calderon Needs Us!

Donation protected
To our Seaborn Beach Park and extended families,

As most, if not all of you know, our beloved "Coach" Joseph Calderon and his beautiful girlfriend, Jacky, welcomed their amazing daughter into the world in July of this year.  Who can forget the adorable picture of Coach holding his daughter in the hospital that hung on our Seaborn Beach Park entrance for months.  As a parent, I can think of no more powerful moment than holding your child for the first time, and Coach no doubt cherishes those memories as well.

Unfortunately, Coach and Jacky's journey since the birth of their daughter had been less than ideal.  At the age of 19, Jacky was diagnosed with lupus.  She courageously battled the illness for years, and in fact earned a Master's degree from USF, despite the obstacles and challenges that the illness brought on.  Sadly, Jacky's condition deteriorated greatly after the birth of their daughter.  The flare ups and symptoms became more intense as each week passed, and her kidneys began to fail.  The low point was late last month, when Jacky was diagnosed with end stage renal disease.

Jacky is in desperate need of a transplant.  While she awaits her life saving match, the young family made the agonizing decision to move Jacky and their daughter from Tampa to Nevada, where she can undergo dialysis treatments from some of the best doctors in the world, while being surrounded by her parents and other members of her immediate family.

Meanwhile, Coach remains as dedicated as ever, not only to his young family, but to our families as well.  Despite carrying this emotional burden, Coach shows up to work day in and day out, providing love, support, motivation, and most importantly FUN to our little miracles.  We are so lucky to have Coach in our children's lives.  He touches the hearts and minds of each and every Seaborn Beach Park child every single day.

On the weekends, Coach packs a bag, boards a plane, and heads out west to Nevada to spend precious moments with his daughter, and offer support to Jacky and her family, as she bravely battles onward.  The strength this man shows gives me goose bumps.  I am proud to call him a friend, and so thankful that God has brought him into our families lives.

This fund is being established to help Coach and his beautiful family through this difficult time.  If the families of Seaborn Beach Park (and our extended network of friends and families) read this and feel moved to do so, I know that we can help alleviate some of the financial burden that Coach and Jacky are experiencing.  These monies will be provided directly to Coach to use for things such as travel, lodging, medical costs, and other basic necessities.  Let's pull together this powerful network of Seaborn (plus) families, and truly help Coach get over this temporary hurdle.

They deserve a Merry Christmas ... let's do our part to make that happen!  Any little bit helps, or if you are not currently in position to donate at this time, please pass along to a friend that might be touched by Coach's story.  Thank you for reading.
