Coach Dom & Gena Esqueda need our help!

The Esqueda family needs our prayers and help

Dominic and Gena Esqueda took their boys Friday 7/7/23 to a Mallards game and had a fantastic time together. After the game they took the boys home and decided to meet up with some friends for a date night. On their way home at about 1230 AM Saturday morning (7/8/23) they were the unfortunate ones who ended a police chase by getting hit by the fleeing suspect, which totaled out the car. The suspect was then able to flee on foot. At this point, it's still undetermined if he was caught and if there is anyone to hold liable for the medical bills or totaled car.
Both Dominic and Gena were hurt in the accident and had to be taken in by ambulance. Gena had internal damage, her seatbelt smashed her stomach back to her spine ripping her abdominal wall apart and also tore a wall lining inside that was causing blood supply to be cut off so they needed to remove part of her colon and intestines and redirect for now, she has an colostomy bag for at least 6-8 weeks and they are hopeful after another surgery they can fix and remove that. Dominic has 4 broken ribs. Both are very beat up, sore and emotionally exhausted and have a long road of recovery ahead of them.

They reside in Madison WI where they raise their 2 boys, Benjamin 17 and Dylan 13. Dominic also known as "Coach Dom" has been a mentor to many boys in many organizations over the last 10 years in their community as he has coached Baseball, basketball and football. Gena stands by his side as many nights after work and weekends they are running to practice or games. There are many times they are running separately with one of their boys in a different direction. But neither of them would have it any other way.

We would like to raise money for their daily living as Gena who was to start her new job this week is now unemployed as they can't hold her position waiting for her to recover. Her recovery time is unknown but will last for months. Dominic is also off of work for an undetermined amount of time and once back he will need to still miss many days to care for Gena and run her back and forth to appointments during her recovery time.

We would love for them not to have to worry about the financial burden they will be in as we know when tragedy strikes life does not stop, bills don't go away, groceries still have to be bought and shortly school shopping will be needed for their boys and they will need all the help they can get.

Thank you for taking the time to read their story. Thank you in any form you can give, praying, sharing or donating to a wonderful family.

Much love,
Valerie Manecke (Genas sister)
Laurie Esqueda (Dominic's mom)
And of course the Esqueda family
