Coach Fields & the ALS battle : health needs

Donation protected
My name is Jay Webb. Jimmy Fields is a wonderful friendship of mine from Columbus, MS.; we grew up like brothers. The game of football was life for us, we bonded over dreams that others most certainly doubted. Well, this brother of mine was diagnosed with ALS. He received the alarming news in February of 2020 - BAMMMMM!

The battle for his health has just begun, and the financial impact has hit hard and depleted all savings. In my research, the financial toll of ALS has been expressed by some experts as the most "crippling" neurological disease.  While Jimmy is still coaching and mentoring kids via his work, the extremities of his body - specifically his arms - they, are quickly losing function. He will be forced into disability at the rate of which the ALS is developing.  His glorious bride, Shannen - her gladiator spirit- is amazing to witness. I pray that her energy will be sustained, and that her spirit holds to the test.

While the above statements are dark, let me reassure you that his soul and spirit are alive and well.  Jimmy says, the "spirit of our Savior comforts" his physical anguish and lifts his spirit to attack each day. You see, Jimmy loves his work of developing youngsters for the challenges of life. Jimmy choose, or was chosen to teach and minister the well spring of eternity promised by the Savior. I can see in my memory, Jimmy standing with a kid that feels that they are exhausted and can't go on - Jimmy prying and insisting more effort from the athlete - developing that reservoir of effort and awareness to defeat mental, emotional and physical fatigue. The fatigue that most certainly follows folks navigating a hard and secular world.

Jimmy's profession of teaching and ministry are two of the lowest paid higher education professions in the U.S. labor force. They are professions of intellect and ethics - the development of the one's soul. Those elements are of great importance to our communities. The realities of a health crisis do not provide the financial safety net to stave off of a tragic health issue such as the ALS prognosis.

Appeal and Challenge: Jimmy has coached thousands of high school athletes, college athletes and a few that became professional athletes - I would like to appeal for your assistance : Spread this news, spread the news to your parents.  Parents, tell your children and encourage involvement. We need the help. we are renovating and equipping a new home for Jimmy's and Shannen's special needs. Lets' get $100,000 raised before the end of August 2020.

Family and friends please contact and post photos and dedications of your time with Coach Jimmy Fields. New friends, we welcome you to the effort and welcome your prayers for healing!
