Coach Jerry Hirst, Harlingen High School’s tennis coach of 34 years and a four time Hall of Famer, was instrumental in giving his tennis players the opportunity to continue their education through athletic scholarships to various colleges and universities.

Coach Hirst knew the value of an education, and through the generosity of others, he was able to graduate as a first generation college student. He never forgot the mentors who taught him how to play the game, nor those who helped guide him to attain his college education through the game of tennis. This changed his life forever, and he dedicated the rest of his life to paying it forward.

In memory of Coach Jerry Hirst, we have started this fund to aid deserving students who wish to further their education beyond high school.  Donations received will go towards the establishment of the Coach Jerry Hirst Memorial Scholarship Fund.
