Coach Joe Jones and his family

My name is Kira McNulty, I am the president of Allen Park Athletic Club. Each year we have around 500 players signed up to play baseball, softball and tee ball. This club wouldn’t be possible without the amazing coaches that volunteer their time to teach these kids fundamentals, sportsmanship, team unity among so many other valuable lessons.

As APAC wrapped up our season, our 12u Navy hardball team had a horrible accident at their playoff game. An accident that could very well happen to any one of our coaches, players, parents or spectators.

Coach Joe Jones suffered a foul ball to his face, resulting in 2 orbital fractures, 2 cheek bone fractures and a sinus bone fracture, he suffered a concussion and after passing out he was rushed by ambulance to Dearborn Main where he’s been admitted and waiting to undergo a grueling 5-6 hour surgery to reset and stabilize the fractures. Unfortunately the prognosis of his vision or the movements on the left side of his face are unknown.

It is unknown how long Coach Joe will be off of work, the board is reaching out to our amazing community to show support when one of ours is in need. Prayers, shares and donations are needed and appreciated.
