Coach Mayra Meraz Fund

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our sweet friend and community member, Mayra Meraz. She was a source of light and love for our community and all that she met. She was the Vice President for Valley Center Youth Soccer, and also in charge of VCYS sponsorships, but there was no question that her first love was as Coach Mayra. She started off coaching recreational soccer, sometimes even two teams a season, but then fulfilled her goal of becoming a competitive coach for the Valley Center Hurricanes. She volunteered her time in FAVE - our schools local art program, in the girls’ classes, on the fields, in dance activities, and everything in between. Wherever a hand was needed, Mayra had a hand to give. She was energetic, always positive and always smiling. She was selfless and loved to do for others. She leaves behind two precious daughters that were her whole world. Mayra’s priority was to keep the girls busy and involved in the activities that they loved! They were involved in soccer, dance, 4H, horseback riding and wherever they were, Mayra was right behind them with her big infectious smile, making sure to help in any way she could! She wanted to make sure that their experiences were rich with love, connection, and guidance that would mold them into responsible and healthy adults. Let us come together and blanket her girls with the same kind of love that Mayra poured into our community. It is without saying that their worlds have been forever changed. Our hope for this fund is to help Mayra’s beautiful daughters, stay busy in the activities that they love while they persevere through this next chapter in their lives. Thank you!
