Help Coach Pete During His Recovery

On February 17, 2025, while driving to swim practice, Coach Pete Barry suffered a catastrophic hemorrhagic stroke. Currently, he is in the hospital facing a prolonged and uncertain recovery.

Coach Pete is a beloved coach across the swim and dive community in SW Pennsylvania and beyond. A former Chair of Allegheny Mountain Swimming, Coach Pete is in his 30th year of coaching for Pine Richland Aquatics and Pine-Richland High School Swim and Dive. He has coached countless youth through the years often selflessly giving of his time to help swimmers and coaches from other teams and regions. Coach Pete always has his swimmers’ best interests at heart looking beyond the sport of swimming to help prepare them for life.

In the wake of recently losing his father in a battle with cancer, Coach Pete along with his mother, Coach George, sister, Coach Shannon, and brother, Coach T.J. have endured a lot already this year. The unexpected nature and severity of his stroke has led to mounting uncovered medical expenses.

Coach Pete has always been a source of strength for so many. Now, it’s our turn to step up and support him and his family. We ask for your help in support of Coach Pete during his road to recovery.
