Life Coach Training for Remy
Donation protected
Family and friends, I need your support to become a trained and certified professional life coach and launch the next chapter of my career!
Have you ever been launching a new project and worried about how much energy it will take? Or navigating a job transition and not sure what decision to make? Have you ever felt burnt out and exhausted doing work you know matters, or found that worrying about "the state of the world" distracts you from progress toward meaningful goals? These are things a life coach can help with!
As a life coach I will support purpose-driven people to go beyond their normal stopping points and consistently take action on the work that really matters to them. The money I'm raising will cover tuition, certification and mentor coaching for a rigorous, year-long training program through the Academy for Coaching Excellence (ACE). ACE's time-tested methods are based on principles of compassion, generosity and service. Their training program provides the perfect foundation for a coaching practice that will allow me to share these skills with my communities.
In the video above, I tell the story of how and why I decided to become a professional life coach. Scroll down to learn more about my vision, what life coaching is all about, the training program I'm enrolled in, giving perks, where the money I raise will go, and my timeline. Thank you so much for being here!
WHAT'S A LIFE COACH? WHY THIS TRAINING PROGRAM?
A coach is someone who supports people to go beyond their normal stopping points and take action on what matters to them. The Academy for Coaching Excellence (ACE) has a time-tested coaching method and training program based on principles of compassion, generosity and service. ACE's approach is aligned with my values and it is the perfect foundation for my vision of a coaching practice that supports purpose-driven people.
Whether in our professional or personal lives, it can feel hard to bring our dreams and goals into reality. But we all want to focus our attention and energy where it will do the greatest good. We want to work hard, but with elegance and joy instead of struggle. We want to experience gratitude, fulfillment and meaning in all areas of our lives.
The ACE coach training will prepare me to support clients across a range of areas. Some examples include:
*Stress, Overwhelm & Self-doubt - Quiet the mental chatter and feel more confident.
*Time Management & Productivity - Treat time as a friend to cherish, not a foe to conquer.
*Career & Purpose - See where you want to go next, and how to get there.
*Relationships - Enjoy a life built around the people who matter most to you.
*Financial Success - Use money to put your true values and intentions into action.
*Health & Well-Being - Learn to partner with your body as your lifelong companion.
*Leadership & Teamwork - Hone your ability to empower others toward purposeful action.
As a passionate rock climber, I will also use my training to support mountain sports athletes.
*Mental training for athletes - I am always being coached by the obstacles I encounter on the mountain, and I wonder - how can these learning moments outside inform how we engage with the broader world? How do our personal and professional lives inform how we show up to our sports? And what if these worlds felt more integrated, cohesive and mutually supportive?
In addition to my general coaching practice, I am using tools borrowed from ACE and hatha yoga to develop a holistic mental training program for athletes that encourages mindfulness and personal transformation.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT MY VISION
1. Donate to this campaign!
"How much should I give?" you ask? Whatever would make you feel like this:“I believe in this vision, I support Remy and I really helped him get trained and launch a coaching practice that is making a difference!”
Here on GoFundMe is the best place to give - they take 0% and you can immediately see your contribution. You can also donate via PayPal (my email), Venmo (@remysfranklin) or cash/check (send me an email).
2. Share this with your friends!
Tell 2-4 people who you think would get a sense of meaning and purpose by contributing to this campaign, or help by commenting, liking and sharing my posts on social media.
3. Pre-pay for coaching!
Interested in life coaching for you or a friend? I am currently in training and will start accepting clients in August 2018. A coaching session is one of the giving perks so you can support my vision by 'pre-paying' for coaching.
Thank you!
GIVING PERKS
Your support for this vision means so much to me. Here's how I'd love to say "thank you!"
You can choose the giving perk at or below your donation amount, or we can modify/adjust to make it something you’d really love. I'll be in contact to fulfill perks by October 31, 2018. If you don't live in California we can get creative or I'll write you a rain check for the next time we cross paths.
$500+ Day-long climbing or hiking trip in California's Sierra Nevada mountains for you and 2 friends! I'll bring the picnic and plan the logistics :)
$200+ Rock climbing lesson! Whatever level you're at, we can meet at a gym or the crag and help you hone your skills.
$150+ Private yoga class! Bring your friends and I’ll design a 90-minute yoga workshop just for you (I’m currently finishing my 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training and will be fully certified in October).
$85+ 45-minute coaching call! I'll support you in clarifying your next steps for a specific project, career move or life goal. We'll make a plan you love and I'll follow up to celebrate!
$45+ 30-minute coaching call! Something you’ve been hung up on or worried about? Let’s clarify what about this matters for you and how you can consistently move beyond your familiar stopping points.
$10+ A personalized thank you video! So you can hear how much your support means to me.
WHY CROWDFUND? WHERE WILL THE MONEY I RAISE GO?
The $8,900 I am fundraising for is the actual amount I will pay for tuition, certification and mentor coaching. The entire process will take over a year and does not include travel or any living expenses.
Here's what is included:
Four core courses ($2,800). I travel to ACE's office in Sacramento for these intensive trainings lasting 4+ days each. These in-person courses blend coaching theory with practice and are lead by some of the best coaches in the industry.
Certification package ($3,900), which includes: virtual classes on topics like ethics, business development or working with clients in crisis; a 12-session virtual skills group (where my cohort coaches one another and gets feedback from a mentor coach); and lifelong membership to ACE's coach community, including a network of 15+ years of ACE graduates. At the end of this process I will be certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF) , the globally-recognized accreditation entity for the coaching profession.
Mentor coach support for 9 months ($2,200). ACE's training program requires that I work with a mentor coach through my first 125 coaching hours with paying clients. This support includes bi-monthly calls focused on coaching skill, business and personal development. My fundraising goal includes 9 months of mentor coach support, giving me time to build my practice before taking over this cost for the remaining months.
I realize there are a wide variety of life coach certification programs available at a variety of prices. ACE's program is not the cheapest (or the most expensive), but it perfectly matches my needs, interests and experience. ACE also offers a sliding scale for their coach training program. I fall in the lowest income bracket and am therefore receiving a coaching education that costs others as much as $16,000.
"But Remy, how could you attend grad school and go on all these climbing trips but not pay for tuition?"
That's a great question! Getting support from friends, family and fans was the only feasible way for me to afford this training (without saving for several more years or borrowing money on top of my existing student loans). My master's program was fully funded and most climbing trips are very cheap (it usually costs me less to be camping and climbing than living in a city). I am also climbing at a semi-professional level and increasingly receive outside support for my trips. For example, I'm extremely grateful to have grants and private donors covering the full cost of my upcoming trip to São Tomé and Príncipe. I'd be happy to answer any questions about finances or why this wouldn't be possible without you!
