Coach Kyle Horn
If you have ever met Kyle Horn, then there is not much I really need to tell you. An amazing Father, Husband, Son, Friend, and Coach to countless numbers of kids. Since the day I met him 20+ years ago he was coaching, so you can only imagine how many kids (a lot now adults) are better at those very roles I just mentioned, simply because of Kyle.
After 6 weeks of debilitating headaches, Kyle was diagnosed with Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension, which doctors determined was due to a leak of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) somewhere in the brain and spinal canal. Additional MRIs were scheduled a week later to determine the source of the leak (and therefore a treatment plan). But before getting in for the next MRIs, Kyle’s pain worsened and he was admitted to ICU with a rare complication - internal bleeding and pressure build up in his brain/skull. A craniotomy was performed to drain the blood and release the pressure. After a transfer to Cedars Sinai (great care, but further from his family) with an expert neurosurgeon and team familiar with this condition, Kyle then went through another series of tests/procedures to solve the original CSF leak issue. It was determined that Kyle had a bone spur within a herniated disc in his back that had punctured through the dura causing the CSF leak. Spinal surgery is being performed to remove the bone spur on Wednesday 2/28.
Well now it is time to be there for him and his family. The last thing you have energy for in the hospital as a patient or family member is the worry of financial burden. Please join me in helping to remove that burden for someone that has given all of those around him so much. A community coming together can really be a beautiful thing, please share so we can all work together to do something special for a great family
