Coalition on Homelessness: In This Tent Together
Tax deductible
What does shelter in place mean when experiencing homelessness? There are an estimated 5,180 people experiencing street-based homelessness in San Francisco, and that is an assumed undercount. Due to Mayor Breed's refusal to release funds for the Board of Supervisors COVID-19 shelter in place hotel room expansion, and the city’s stagnate pace to place vulnerable unhoused residents into hotels, many unhoused folks are sleeping on sidewalks, in alleyways and storefronts, some don't even have a sleeping bag or blanket. The coronavirus pandemic has left an already vulnerable population with little to nothing to protect themselves from the spread of the virus. Unless Mayor Breed rapidly makes the right decision to put ALL unhoused folks into hotels, they need a way to shelter in place. There is a moral obligation to protect our vulnerable residents that cannot be ignored. A donation of just $25 provides one tent for an unhoused resident to shelter in place, and a little bit of security and privacy from the streets. Join the Coalition on Homelessness in raising funds to provide tents for unhoused people to shelter in place.
