Coby, 9 - Funeral Funding & Help for Our Family
Donation protected
Many of you will have seen our charity fundraising efforts recently for the Lymphangiomatosis & Gorhams Disease Alliance Inc.
We are utterly DEVASTATED to share the news that Shane & Danielle's brave little boy, Coby has lost his battle at the age of 9 years old, just 2 days after the charity football match we put on in his honour.
Coby first fractured his leg at 8 months old and finally received a diagnosis of Gorham-Stout Disease at 3 years old. He was such a brave little boy, fighting every single day and not letting his pain, weak bones, numerous fractures, scans, surgeries, attempts at treatment or many many hospital visits to Sheffield Children's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital stand in his way. A supporter of Liverpool Football Club (probably forced on him by his dad!) and big into gaming, he found happiness in both of these things. He was also a Sheffield Steelers fan and enjoyed singing along to George Ezra! We shared the news recently that Coby's doctors had made the decision to stop treatment as it wasn't working. Coby has been too scared to leave the house in recent times for fear of hurting himself. We knew our time with him was limited but we weren't prepared for it to only be a matter of weeks.
We appreciate that people have donated to our charity fundraiser and are so so grateful for the love you have shown us however as we set the fundraiser up as a pledge, all of the money raised so far goes to research with the Lymphangiomatosis & Gorhams Disease Alliance Inc.
We are a very proud family which makes it even harder for us to reach out in this way but we are not a well off family. We ask that if you even have just a pound to spare that you please, please , PLEASE donate to this fundraiser. Not only did we not have time as a family to put funds in place for this tragedy but Coby's parents Shane & Danielle will both need unpaid time off work to grieve their loss as well as supporting Coby's older brother Jordan and younger sister Allanah.
There are no words that can describe the pain of losing a child to an awful disease that has seen them in pain for most of their short lives. We want to give Coby the send off that he deserves and ease some of the burden for his parents during this heartbreaking time.
Please, please help us. We know the world is an expensive place right now but just a spare £1 will help make all the difference for Coby. Thank you for reading. xx
