An Ultrasound Machine at TBCC
Tax deductible
At Cocoa360, we are pioneering a new model of development that leverages existing community resources to fund educational interventions and health care services. Our “Farm-for-Impact” model puts Ghana’s cocoa farmers in the driver’s seat of development, without long-term reliance on foreign aid.
The Tarkwa Breman Community Clinic, located at Cocoa360's Center of Excellence, serves as the main point of primary care for Tarkwa Breman and the surrounding villages. In just over a year, the clinic has seen over 2,400 patient visits, delivered more than 30 babies, and provided more than 400 antenatal care visits for pregnant women.
Despite our early success, the Tarkwa Breman Community Clinic needs vital equipment to better serve our patients. Through the Sonosite Sound Caring Committee, we have the opportunity to purchase an ultrasound machine. This machine would be used at the clinic to diagnose and treat a wide array of patients, including pregnant women and emergency cases.
Currently, our staff at the Tarkwa Breman Community Clinic rely on an ultrasound technician, who is contracted to visit the village once a month. This timing is difficult for many of our patients, who are cocoa farmers and do not have schedules that allow flexibility for attending such appointments.
Our goal is to raise $13,000 (USD), which will cover:
-Ultrasound machine
-Extra battery
-Two new transducers
-Transport to Tarkwa Breman
-Training for current staff to certify they can appropriately use the machine
Cocoa360 and the Tarkwa Breman Community Clinic are redefining rural health care and they way organizations "do" development. Please consider supporting us as we continue to provide accessible, affordable care in Tarkwa Breman, Ghana.
