Support Coco's Hip Replacement Surgeries

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Elizabeth, and my cat Coco recently broke both of her hips. It occurred without injury, and an x-ray confirmed that she suffers from two spontaneous capital femoral physeal fractures. This diagnosis means that her growth plates never formed correctly, and her hips were destined to fracture at some point.

I completed grad school in NYC in May and unexpectedly had to move to Denver immediately. My job did not start until late September, and the move financially wiped me out. Making things even harder, I got rear-ended in August and have had extensive dental bills to repair broken teeth. Coco's hip replacements are expected to cost $8,000 each. Given that I just started work, there is no way I can save $16,000 on my own in time to get this kitty out of pain as quickly as she deserves. She is on painkillers 24/7, is limited to the ground, and spends most of her days lying down. The vet believes that her current condition is excruciating.

Coco is the sweetest cat I have ever met. I got her together with her brother Cheddar; they were born in January 2021. When I got them, I had a 3-month-old puppy, Potpie, and the three grew up together as best friends. These three are the cutest trio, and I can't wait for her to return to enjoying them instead of hiding all day in fear of her hips being touched. She has a long life ahead of her, and I want to give her the best chance to enjoy that life to the fullest. It has been months now that she has been unable to do her favorite things. She can no longer sleep in my bed, climb her big cat trees, nap in the sink, or play with her beloved laser pointer.

You may be wondering how a cat could be worth 16k, but Coco is an absolute angel. She can usually be found relaxing with her tongue sticking out. She is the only cat I've known who enjoys biting on dog chew toys. Her claws are purely ornamental; she is a total pacifist. Best of all, she likes to have her belly MUSHED. She wants a full-blown deep-tissue massage while she goes crazy purring. Truly amazing.

I will do my best to save the majority of the 16k on my own. I am going to be putting everything I have toward her surgeries. Still, I am struggling, and I don't think I will be able to get the first 8k together in time for her late November surgery date, and I do not want to delay any longer. An adorable, loving kitty is suffering, and it would be selfish of me not to reach out and ask for help to get her well as soon as possible. Anything we can raise is a huge help, and every little bit counts.

A big thank you in advance to anyone who may donate.

Here is the estimate for her first hip replacement and her on the counter at one of her many recent vet appointments:

Now I offer you photo evidence that she and her trio are particularly adorable and deserve to be healthy, happy and reunited:

(they loved each other from day 1, that's how I ended up with two)
