Surviving Cody's Loss

On 11/29/23, Cody Wakefield lost his battle with mental health and took his own life at home. We were fortunate enough that many friends, family and strangers have been willing to help us financially to get him cremated and finish all the paperwork needed, however we're still in need of a little more. Without death certificates or affidavits of succession, we can't close most of his accounts meaning money is still coming out of his account we can't afford to lose. 

His survivors included his mother, who relied on 1/3rd or more of her income coming from, including his portion of rent, food, and cat care. Her roommate moved out three days ago, eliminating another 3rd of her rent. While she works hard at Starbucks, as a woman of limited income in the first place, it's now a matter of moving costs to get out of the bigger condo they were living in, and covering the roof over her head until she can sell said condo. 

I, his wife, lost my job five days before Christmas. I have no savings because of the holiday season being so slow the last month or so. And I still have to get down to Louisiana next month, meaning I can't easily pick up a new job when I leave in two weeks for a little over two weeks. I'm fortunate my parents have a basement for me and the cat, but food and bills are tight already. 

Extra donations will help cover our costs, and give us the wiggle room to survive while we handle business and I find a new job in a small town during the slowest time of the year.

Please. We're already drowning. After funeral costs were taken care of, there's maybe enough for Julie to pay a month of rent, but that's about it. It's the holiday season and the worst time for all these circumstances. I haven't even had time to truly grieve or process my last three weeks of loss between him and the job. All we're asking for is breathing room.
