Cody’s Medical Care & Related Expenses
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rylee Greiman, Cody Greiman’s daughter. So many people have reached out with their condolences, prayers, & support. I can’t thank you all enough for that. There have been several people asking what more they can do to help. Your prayers & support is more than enough, but if you feel inclined to help in any other way, we have started a Go Fund Me for anyone who is able to help in any financial way. This financial help will assist in covering Cody's medical expenses and long road of recovery ahead. If you do not feel comfortable donating through Go Fund Me, donations can be sent via Venmo to ryleegreiman or reach out to us to send cash/check.
Please read below for more information on Cody’s accident:
8/5/23: It’s been 2 weeks since my Dad’s accident & there is still a LONG road of recovery for him. He has undergone 5+ surgeries and procedures & they anticipate for more in the future. He had a complete facial reconstruction as EVERY SINGLE bone in his face including his skull, eye sockets, nose, literally every bone was shattered. He has had several breathing tubes & is now stable on a trach. He has had several feeding tubes as well but have struggled with those so he just recently got a PEG in his stomach as well as several other procedures/surgeries. As you can imagine, the total cost of this is going to be extremely overwhelming for him so we are trying to be proactive. We appreciate it so so much if you are able to donate in order to help with medical expenses. This is going to be tremendous in helping to attempt to relieve as much stress as possible when my Dad is able to be released. Thank you guys so much.
7/23/23: This past Thursday night, Cody was struck by a vehicle while walking. The driver of the vehicle proceeded to drive away without stopping. A car passing by saw him laying on the road and called 911. Cody was out of state when this incident occurred and was taken to the nearest hospital. He was then shortly after flown to the nearest trauma center as the original hospital could not accommodate for his extensive injuries. I am currently working on traveling to be with my father.
Cody remains in critical condition and is currently in the ICU on a ventilator and is sedated. The doctors performed several x-rays, CT scans, etc. and were able to conclude that Cody has bleeding on his brain and that every bone in his face is broken (including jaw, eye sockets, cheeks, etc.). A team of neuro and ortho surgeons will be starting surgery this Sunday at 7:30 AM MST to try to reconstruct the broken bones by using titanium plates and screws. This surgery is extensive and will be expected to take 8-10 hours. This surgery is risky, but is necessary to try to free his airway so that he can be taken off of the ventilator. He is in an excruciating amount of pain right now but we are reassured that the surgery will help relieve some pain as well as prevent more swelling and discomfort. He has been able to follow commands when unsedated such as moving his fingers, reaching for his tongue, etc.
If Cody pulls through this, he will have a very hard and painful recovery ahead of him. We are told that surgery or not, there is high possibility of visual impairment or even blindness for Cody, as well as damaged nerves and possible paralysis within his face. We have started a care bridge for anyone who wants updates throughout this medical journey. I will link that below.
In order to not overwhelm Cody, we ask that you refrain from reaching out to him until he is stable & begins his recovery process.
Please keep Cody, his daughters, and family in your thoughts & prayers! We all know how tough he is, but we need a miracle. Thank you everyone ❤️
