A Little Bit About Cohen Connect.
Cohen Connect Incorporated was founded in 2022 in Western Australia.
Originally established in 1924, the Cohen Medal honours students for academic excellence and unselfishness, values that are at the core of Cohen Connect’s mission. Over the years, Cohen Connect has grown to encompass all built environment design and planning professions, expanding its impact across these fields.
Our SEEDS Program is the cornerstone of Cohen Connect's current activities, dedicated
to improving design literacy among primary and secondary school students. This program offers a comprehensive curriculum, including hands-on activities like neighbourhood walking tours and site visits, helping students explore and understand their local environment. Through phases of Discover, Design, and Display, students learn to analyse, conceptualise, and present urban redevelopment projects, fostering a deep understanding of sustainability, inclusivity, and the importance of thoughtful design. The program has successfully engaged over 1,100 students across several Western Australian schools and is set to expand further.
The SAPLINGS Program supports university students from underrepresented groups,
offering mentoring, financial aid, and seeks to establish paid internships.
The TREES Program, currently under development, will assist recent immigrants and disadvantaged professionals in integrating into the built environment professions.
By donating to Cohen Connect, you’ll be directly supporting these impactful programs and helping to create a more inclusive and diverse built environment for the next century.
