"Is your dad a chill guy?" A nurse at the radiation clinic asked me this as she teased my dad. "He seems like a chill guy." I thought about it and, yes my dad is a really chill guy ( unless of course he's on the receiving end of bad customer service. Then he's not so chill). He's also a ridiculously hard worker. Wether he owned a restaurant or sold drill bits-his work ethic is unwavering. My brother and I will both tell you that our dad inspires us to work harder every day.
For those of you who don't know, David was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and has recently undergone surgery and treatment for related brain tumors. His recovery from brain surgery has gone extremely well which the doctor said is an indication of how he will fare through his other treatments. He will begin treatment for the lungs very soon and the doctors are optimistic but he's got a big fight ahead him. But my dad has what it takes to get through it-his chill attitude and the drive to get up every day and simply do what needs to be done no matter how daunting-that and the fact that he is in otherwise good health thanks in part to working 80+ hours a week for, well basically all my life.
Since kicking cancer will be his job for a while and my mom will have to take a little time off, they need help to stay afloat and to pay for any out-of-pocket medical expenses. Whether you know him from Grisby Grill or Alicia's, you know he works hard to take care of his customers and friends. Let's all help him kick cancer. Your donation of any amount will be most greatly appreciated. The support and love he has already received has meant the world. Thank you.
