Colby Gilbert Recovery

Hi, my name is Mallory & I am fundraising for our best friends, The Gilberts. Colby and my husband, Gene, have been best friends since 5th grade.

On Saturday, July 8th, Colby was riding dirtbikes (as he usually does) with his 13-year-old son, Landon, in Casa Grand, Arizona, when he was in a tragic accident. Landon called 911 to get help for his dad who was in extreme pain and unable to get up after his crash. Colby had to be airlifted to a Level 1 Trauma Center in Phoenix.

After many hours of uncertainty, it was determined that Colby had several fractured ribs, air outside his lungs, and a fractured pelvis. His fractured pelvis had also moved out of position. Colby's team of doctors repaired his pelvis during surgery, which required 4 screws in his pelvis. The surgery was successful, but he will have a difficult and long road to recovery.

Colby's recovery is expected to require 4 months of rehabilitation. He will have to learn to gradually put pressure on his legs and receive physical therapy several times a week. He will be unable to work and provide for his family during this time. Colby's wife, Danielle, will also have to take this time off work to care for Colby during his recovery as his mobility will be extremely limited and he will need fulltime assistance from Danielle.

Funds raised will go towards medical expenses incurred from his hospital stay, surgery, and physical therapy, as well as towards monthly expenses the family will face with both parents being out of work for the foreseeable future while he recovers. This tragic accident has not only caused physical trauma to Colby's body, but emotional trauma to his family, especially to Landon, who witnessed the tragic accident. My hope is to provide some relief to this family during this difficult time. Thank you for your support.
