Cold Bay School Fund

Cold Bay is currently seeking support in keeping the school open. For the last 3 years the school has been under the required enrollment number to recieve state funding leaving the pressure to keep it open on the Aleutian East Borough School District (home to 5 different schools). We have started this donation page as a way for individuals to contribute to helping keep the school open.  The budget for the school is much more than our posted goal amount but we have to start somewhere. Cold Bay is a remarkable community located on the tip of the Aleutian Peninsula. Most residents in Cold Bay work for either Federal or State Government. Because of this Cold Bay's population is constantly changing.  Current enrollment in our school is 4. We have a handful (4) of preschool age children that will be in school in a few years. There are several jobs opening up and we are hoping that more families begin to move to Cold Bay. The entire state of Alaska is under a lot of pressure right now with the possible changes in state funding such as the Keep the Promise Campaign.  If the school is shut down all donations will be transferred accordingly to other programs in Cold Bay available for the children (such as the local library).
