Cole Eckert’s rehab and support from back injury

Donation protected

On Saturday morning May 8th, my sister received a call that no mother wants to hear - her son Cole was badly injured in a fall. He fell 3 stories from a building on base in Georgia and has a crushed heel and ankle and a broken back. Unfortunately, Cole has been given a 9% chance to walk again. Cole’s response “I guess I’ll be one of the 9!” All of Cole’s medical costs are covered by the Army. This go fund me will help to support the whole family so they can be with Cole and not have to worry about the financial expenses for right now. Additionally, when Cole does return the modifications to their home will cost at least $30k for chairs on the stairs and bathroom updates.

There is a long road to recovery ahead - not only for Cole -but also Kim, Paul and Ben to be there to help and support him.

More information

Paul, Kim and Ben caught a flight from Seattle to  Atlanta to be with him that day. His army captain picked them up from the airport and brought them down to Columbus. Thankfully, they immediately were able to see Cole. He was just out of the surgery where they replaced his vertebrae with an artificial one and has stabilizer screws set to support it. Additionally they did another surgery to repair his heel and ankle but there is yet another one to go. This will be done in the not too distant future but the doctors want to get him more stable.

He is struggling to regain sensation in his legs but a full recovery is completely possible and he is improving, so please pray for him.

His brother Ben wrote the following which sums up his situation perfectly:

God has a plan. That is the theme we keep hearing. That plan is beyond our understanding right now. In the meantime, in the waiting, in the being with the pain, we are trusting and confident in God’s goodness and his plan to bring blessing out of every situation.

Its painful and its beautiful that Gods love reaches down into the depths of human suffering and does not necessarily take it away, but rather He experiences it with us.

Cole is in the best physical shape of his life, and he is a warrior through and through, so we know that he will not go quietly or submit to defeat without tremendous fight so we are very hopeful for his recovery.

All in all we are so glad that he is ALIVE and that we can be with him in this time!! Again please send prayers, send love, and intercede with the Divine on Cole’s behalf.

God has a plan!!
