Coles Heart Journey
Donation protected
Hi, I am Erica Sylvester Coles wife.
For those not aware Cole was born with congential heart disease. Through out childhood he had many surgeries and procedures that saved his life and allowed him to live a pretty "normal" life. He currently has a pacemaker implanted as well as a fontan. We have 4 children - 3 girls and a boy who love their daddy very much.
In April 2023 Cole was heading to work and noticed his heart seemed to be racing and wouldn't slow down. The roads were bad so he came home. We got ahold of his Cardiologist team and after some tests and new meds they decided it was best for Cole to head into Winnipeg to see what could be done. He spent 3 days in St. Boniface hospital during which they had to do a cardioversion to get his heart back into rhythm. He was sent home told no more working until more tests could be completed. For the next month we went back to winnipeg for follow up appointments as well as some extra tests. They determined Cole is in heart failure and at this time they do not feel like there is anything they can do to fix his existing heart and that it is no longer safe for his health to be working or over exerting himself. Cole is now on the journey of seeing if he is eligible for a heart transplant. During this process there is many appointments and procedures that need to be done, while his team tries to make as many close to home as they can unfortunately most have to be done in Winnipeg. When he hopefully gets listed the heart transplant will be done in Edmonton.
We have tried our best to stay on top of things these last 7 months but as of now Cole can no longer get ei and we are still waiting to hear on a disability claim. We are extremely grateful to live were we do not have to pay for each test and doctors visit but our family is finding it quit difficult to keep up with the financial strain this has caused.
Any donations or well wishes are appreciated at this time.
Funds will be used for getting to appts, time missed from work as well as when he goes for transplant the cost of staying in Edmonton close to him and any after care he will need.
