Coles-Albert Continues to Grow!!

Donation protected
Coles-Albert Griner a 12 year old young boy residing in West Palm Beach Florida with his Mom Cynthia and Dad Joe, the 4th child in a lineup of 5, with 3 older brothers and one baby sister. Coles-Albert is a sweet, loving and smart boy with big dreams. He is a rising 7th grader at North Palm Beach Conservatory in the Vocal Program.

Coles-Albert fell ill the night of Thursday July 5th, just one day after how most of us spent our July 4th celebration. He became weak very fast with shortness of breath. On the morning of Friday July 6th his Mother and Father were faced with a parents worse nightmare as Coles-Albert’s speech slurring, and him being unconscious. The ambulance and emergency responders were called in and reacting immediately, His small leg bone was drilled into as this was the only way to start an IV.

Coles-Albert was admitted in Palm Beach Children’s Hospital PICU, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and is currently in Diabetic Ketoacidosis State.  He is “asleep” most of the time especially after his visitors, but not in a coma with IV fluids and was recently given Manitol to prevent Cerebral Edema.  Coles-Albert lost 10 pounds in the past two weeks. He has shown periods of lucid conversation, but as well as states of confusion; his parents have learned very quickly that this is a marathon and not a sprint and slow and steady will win the race with God’s Grace!

With this unforeseen circumstance his parents and family are by his bedside praying and waiting patiently for Coles-Albert to become more lucid and active. This leaves the head of household unable to work and take time off. The medical bills are already piling up and coming in, while their child is still unresponsive in a hospital bed.

His father was let go unexpectedly last December and he is now working two jobs to try to make ends meet. He is self employed as a consultant and also works the night shift three days a week part time so the family has not been able to afford insurance.

They were beginning to get back on their feet as he has been working since April.

Their focus now is of course the health and recovery of Coles-Albert, and they know that their lives have changed significantly as they have entered into a new normal.

There is a road to recovery ahead with treatments, hospital stays, doctor visits and medication.
Please consider donating to this sweet 12 year old boy and his fight and more importantly thank you for your prayers!

The Griner Family are members of The Royal Poinciana Chapel on Palm Beach Island.

The Griner Family has opened a new bank account with PNC specific only to paying Coles-Albert’s medical and pharmaceutical expenditures. All withdraws from this gofundme site will be deposited directly into that account now that it has been created.

Payments will be made to doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies through this account. Additionally, our pediatric endocrinologist has strongly recommended that we use a portion of the donations to procure insurance for Coles-Albert to assist in mitigating future expenses.

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34
