Collapsing Trachea
Tax deductible
Over the past six months, Butterfly has had multiple life threatening and scary episodes of open mouth, labored breathing and coughing. Each time this occurs, she has had to be hospitalized, monitored, and put on oxygen. She currently is confined to a cage in order to keep her calm and limit her activity, as any exertion may spur another episode. Months of testing, xrays, and a bronchoscopy have yielded the diagnosis of a narrowed, collapsing trachea. This condition is rare in cats and finding a vet who can perform surgery on her has been challenging. The only way to improve Butterfly’s quality of life is to have a stint surgically placed into her trachea to keep it open. A special size stint has been ordered and she is scheduled for the surgery next week. The discounted cost of this procedure is beyond what we can afford given our current financial situation. (We have taken in over 50 cats/kittens this month). However, we cannot deny this adorable, patient and loving young girl her chance to breathe easy and enjoy life. This stunning two year old longs to spend her days playing and running (as she did prior to the onset of this abnormality) and satisfying her every curiosity. Butterfly is a super friendly cat who will be highly adoptable once her breathing can be stabilized. Please support her treatment by donating and sharing.
