Colleen, our sweet mama, mimi, wife, and friend was given the news no one wants to hear. A large tumor was recently found in her esophagus. Over the holidays she was diagnosed with late stage 3-early stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma cancer. This has been devastating news that hit our family and everyone that loves her, very hard.

on Tuesday she started the process by getting a J-tube (feeding tube) put in and on Monday January 9th, She will begin chemo and radiation for 6 weeks. (Radiation will be done at UW hospital and chemo at Fred Hutch). Once that is complete she will be undergoing major surgery.

So many people have asked how they could help and for those of you that know our parents know they aren’t ones to typically accept help in this way, but know they would do anything for the people they loved.

Living on an island makes things a little more difficult so this will help with medical and traveling costs. (She would like to come home every weekend in between treatments). For those of you that are eager to help, we appreciate anything you have to offer even if it’s just sharing. All 3 of us girls thank you for all your prayers, thoughts, and well wishes. We know she has a long road ahead but are confident she will fight through this!
