MERRILL FAMILY - Colleen Merrill
Donation protected
On Monday, October 31st Colleen suffered a tragic stroke caused by a blood clot that hemorrhaged in a major artery carrying blood to her brain. She underwent emergency brain surgery in an effort to relieve her brain of the pressure that was causing her body to loose functions like movement, coherence and speaking.
Colleen is an active member in the Green community. Over the years people have come to know her through her involvement with her children. Her children, Autumnn and JT, have been involve in many sports, including soccer and football, but they have especially been very active in the Green Barracudas. Colleen has served as a volunteer in many capacities for all of these organizations for nearly 15 years.
In addition to raising her own family, Colleen has played an important role in helping raise and care for many other children in other families for years as a babysitter. As a parent, finding someone who loves your child as much as you do is a rare find, but many found their way to Colleen and knew they found a hidden treasure.
She has touched so many lives, helped so many and asked for little in return along the way. She has given of herself, her time and her unconditional love to many.
Colleen has a long road of recovery ahead of her with currently a lot of unanswered questions looming. At this time we do not know when or if Colleen will ever be able to return to the life she had before this tragic incident. At this time, she is expected to remain hospitalized for at least 1-2 months.
Any donations will help the family off-set the loss in income, medical bills, transportation costs to/from the hospital, meals, parking, and any other unexpected costs as the holidays approach.
The family is very appreciative of the outpouring of love and support. Her son, JT, even commented to a family friend, "I didn't realize my mom had this many friends who cared so much about her. It's really nice." She is so loved!
We are so use to Colleen helping others, but now she needs US and so does her family.
Her husband, Eddie, along with her son and daughter, and a few other family members and friends have remained by her side since the incident. Dinners and light groceries are being organized by a family friend so that the family may remain together during this difficult time.
