Honoring Alex Butler and Final Arrangements

We collectively lost our dear son, brother, friend, and punk rock icon Alex Butler (“lilrokfox”) early this week. He had just returned to Minneapolis to get settled after a long stint of doing what he loved most, riding trains. The imprint he left on his family, friends, Little Rock, Minneapolis, and the punk/train community in between was immense, evident by the sheer number of people coming together right now, sharing memories, trying to comprehend just how passionate, talented, smart, musically elitist, opinionated, eccentric, and CUTE he was while we had the chance to be together. To make sure Alex’s mother and immediate family can come to Minneapolis to pick him up, visit, and grieve in a town that he loved and called home for 10 years, we are starting a fund to pay for travel costs and other incidentals. Alex Butler needs a ride. Please chip in to help support.

Antoine Ghaly, Alex Stillman, and Graham Faulkner are the co-hosts of this campaign. All money raised is going to Alex's family.

Thank you all so much for your generous donations. After a long conversation between Antoine and Leigh (Alex’s mother) today, Alex’s family has decided they are not able to travel to Minneapolis at this time. Given this was a large part of why the fund was started (so they could have this opportunity if they wished), we wanted to give an update and a breakdown of what final arrangements look like to best honor Alex and his family's wishes:

Any funds not spent doing the above things (which will be coordinated by Antoine) will be given to Alex’s family directly, so that they can pay for memorial services in Little Rock and have some financial breathing room following.

This is a very difficult update to write, but we wanted to be fully transparent on how these funds are being used to best honor Alex and to respect his family’s needs right now.
