The Collins Boy. Los Angeles. 1928. The corruption of the LAPD is at its boiling point. Innocent people are being beaten, silenced, and locked away. Amidst this deception, a mother’s son goes missing. The story gains national attention and the pressure to find the boy is palpable. His other shows in development with Cari Kassel are Freedom Bus and The Gathering of Waters.
Cari Kassel (Book, Music, and Lyrics) is a singer/songwriter and proud mother of her 5 and a half-year-old daughter, Zinnia. She received her BA in Music Theory from Penn State and her MA in Educational Theatre from New York University. She now resides in Lambertville, NJ and is the Performing Arts Coordinator at The Cambridge School. Currently, her song “The World Changed” can be heard in the musical Homeroom.
OUR STORY
From the moment we met 18 years ago we knew we were destined to be life long friends. There was no doubt about it. We would change and shape the course of each other's lives. It's just like that sometimes when you meet someone else. A spark, destiny if you will. We have both always had a strong passion for musical theater. Brad pursued his dream as a Broadway performer and I happily became a teacher of music and performing arts. Brad and I wrote many songs together over the years and always enjoyed this collaboration process. A year and a half ago we said to each other "why aren't we writing a musical?" It seemed so obvious. We have both adored musical theater since we were kids and that was where our lives have taken us. And yet we have never attempted it. We found the story of Christine and Water Collins to be unbelievably moving and one that needs to be told. As soon as we began this journey together we knew it was the truth and we have never once looked back. We are fully committed to bringing this show to Broadway as the themes and morals of this piece are more appropriate and timely now then ever before. We would be so utterly humbled if you would join us in this journey and we thank you from bottom of our hearts for all of your help.
