Collision to Coast
Donazione protetta
In 2016, Laura Stark set out on an adventure which in many ways would change her life. Accompanied by 25 others, she began a cross-country cycling trip in Yorktown, Virginia with the non-profit Bike and Build raising money and awareness for affordable housing. About 3/4 of the way through the trip Laura and friend/teammate Anne Davis were struck by a distracted driver while riding to their evening host. Anne was tragically killed, and Laura sustained injuries leaving her paralyzed. Over the past year and a half, Laura has dedicated her time and energy to learning this new way of life and passionately pursuing the idea of finishing the journey she began with her 25 teammates to reach the Oregon coast.
Acquiring a Top End Force RX Hand Cycle, Laura is on the move and glad to be back on the road. This bike is making it possible to continue cycling and push forward in pursuing her dream of finishing this trip! After months of training she has determined that for 4 weeks from June-July, she will embark on this feat of reaching the Oregon coastline and officially finishing the last thousand miles of her bike trip across America.
We would love any support you can provide in efforts of getting this Collision to Coast team the final leg of this journey! Any money left over after essential needs will be donated to the Anne Davis Memorial Fund for Environmental Science and Policy at William and Mary, providing support for the most pressing needs of the ENSP program, with a preference for acquiring sustainable materials such as native plants and solar panels. Anne lives on in each of our hearts and minds every day and we know she will be with us throughout this journey!
