This year marks the 1,500th anniversary of St. Colmcille/Columba’s birth, and will be celebrated with a series of events in Kells.
During the Summer months, the Colmcille 1500 Kells committee are planning to ‘dress’ Kells in flags, bunting and illuminations.. The illuminations, located at 6 sites around Kells will narrate the story of Colmcille and his followers. This will create a colourful, visual experience of Kells as a town celebrating which all the community and visitors can enjoy and share with family and friends abroad. These resources will be available to the town for future years.
We have engaged a graphic designer to create bespoke designs and a donation from you will help towards design and production costs. We would be extremely grateful if you would help us to shine a light on Kells in 2021, a most significant year in our town’s history.
