Colombian GM Autoworkers' Fight: 13 Years & Counting
Donation protected
Our solidarity efforts continue on behalf of the courageous injured and former GM workers in Bogota, Colombia who formed the association ASOTRECOL to fight their illegal firings and GM's other unjust practices in their country. After the legal processes for redress proved ineffective, ASOTRECOL set up their protest tent encampment on August 2, 2011 at the US Embassy to publicize their fight. 13+ years later, which have included 3 hunger strikes and other non-violent actions, the tent remains standing, and their struggle continues. This would not be possible without the solidarity of many supporters within and outside of the labor movement from across the U.S. and around the world who have acted in the best traditions of international working class solidarity. Their fight for a just settlement with General Motors has taken many twists and turns, with a lot of hardships - but also heartfelt solidarity - along the way. The funds raised will contribute to their sustenance at the tents, and to cover costs associated with an innovative legal case initiated earlier this year.
