The Angel Family needs our help.
Beginning in February 2019, Colson was taken to the pediatrician after several days of vomiting. It was thought that he was battling a stomach virus and since it was flu season, that made perfect sense. Ultimately his symptoms progressed to the point where it was determined he needed additional testing and it needed to happen quickly.
On Monday March 4th, Colson was taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital Emergency Room where after several tests, the doctors ultimately discovered a brain mass located in between Colson's cerebellum and brain stem. Just two days later Colson underwent successful brain surgery where the surgeons where able to completely remove the mass.
On Friday March 8th, Colson was officially diagnosed with having had a Grade 2 Ependymoma Tumor, which only occurs in approximately 200 children each year.
Emily and Johnny are committed to doing everything and going anywhere in order to help Colson win this battle. The standard treatment the Doctors have recommended includes 6 straight weeks of Radiation Therapy directed at the site where the tumor was located. The goal is to eliminate any microscopic cancer cells which might cause the tumor to grow back. Due to the specific type of Radiation Therapy suggested, they will be traveling to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to have it performed.
This family obviously faces substantial financial challenges due to the medical expenses not covered by insurance, temporary housing in Cincinnati, the inherent cost of travel, and follow up care for Colson in the future.
We are asking for everyone to continue to pray for Colson and family as he continues to recover from his surgery and undergoes this tough road ahead.
