Colton Strong- Ewing’s Sarcoma Warrior
Colton’s battle is almost over- Ewing’s Sarcoma did not win! His fight has taken a toll on him and his family emotionally, physically and financially. Please help him in recovering and getting back to being a healthy teenager.
His story- In February of 2020, Colton started having some severe lower back pain, specifically on his right side. The pain made it very hard for him to sit, stand, lay down, or even walk. We took him to the ER and were told that it was his Sciatic Nerve. He was prescribed some muscle relaxers and pain medication. The pain would last a few days then go away and he was back to normal. After many months of various treatments and trips to the ER they recommended a Sports Medicine Physician. In January 2021 the new Sports Medicine Physician ordered an MRI. The Radiologist noticed a shadow on his right pelvis area. It was a tumor and they referred us to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. There it was confirmed he had cancer-Ewing’s Sarcoma. He began months of chemo treatments and by June 2021 he was able to have surgery to remove the tumor and a large portion of his hip bone. He began recovering and healing and then started his next round of chemo treatments. Right now he is two treatments away from being done with his chemotherapy and is currently cancer free!! He still has some bumps to get over- but is nearing the end of this battle.
