Colton’s rehabilitation costs

On Saturday morning of April 16th our family experienced a very traumatic event. My 16 year old, baby brother, Colton, was in a severe  car accident and was rushed to the ICU. He hit a very large pole in my mom’s vehicle at moderate to high rate of speed. It took approximately an hour to extract him from the vehicle with the “Jaws of Life”.   He was brought into the ICU with multiple severe injuries and required 12 hours of immediate surgeries to repair what damage/injuries that had occurred. We are so blessed that he was able to be stabilized and live through this life changing event!!   The next portion of his journey is going to be a  long intensive recovery. He sustained multiple severe breaks to the left femur, lower leg, left ankle, as well as a  traumatic brain injury , skull fracture, and shattering of the front left side of the forehead. He is only 16 and has his whole life ahead of him!! He will  need to be transferred to a residential rehabilitation center for several weeks/months. My mom does not have access to health insurance at this time and due to the accident, no longer has access to a car.  They are working to get Colton placed into the proper rehabilitation center but the lack of health insurance has caused a delay, possible preventing him all together, from getting him placed into such a center that can provide the extensive rehabilitation he needs for his recovery. Some centers are requiring a larger percentage of the amount due as a down payment just to  even accept him into their rehabilitation center. The rehabilitation cost are going to be in the upwards of $100,000 ‘s of dollars. Not to mention the cost of his initial life saving care/surgeries and time in the hospital up to this point. My mom needs some help with expenses to get him into a rehabilitation center, on the road to recovery, and continued required care.
