Come together for Trent Barilla

Hi, My name is Matthew Hoffecker. I am the longtime best friend of Nathan Barilla. Unfortunately, as many of you know Nathan’s life has come to a tragic and untimely end. Leaving his young son Trent without a father and a community of friends and family in mourning and disbelief.

Nathan was a devoted father, raising a son on his own. As many of you know, that alone can be very challenging. Nate somehow would always rise to the occasion and went above and beyond for his son. He is so proud of Trent and the young man he is becoming. Recently graduating from the sailing program Nautilus in Virginia Beach. Trent is currently helping on a relatives ranch and has aspirations of participating in the ROTC program to open future doors to a military career. Nathan has raised an impressive young man.

I am reaching out in hopes of easing this transition for Trent in any way possible. He has a long road of healing ahead of him. Unfortunately Nate was not prepared for this with life insurance or significant savings. After costs of getting his belongings in order and closing out his obligations theres not much left for Trent financially.

I have always told Nate that if anything ever happened to him I would do everything I could for Trent. I also believe in times like this it takes a village. I know the impact Nate has had on my life along with his Delaware tribe. I am honestly in awe at the love and support of so many from his Virginia tribe as well. The bonds he made there are strong. I recently attended his celebration of life there and am still taken back by the stories and relationships he’s made in just a few short years of living there.

It is truly unfortunate that we are in this place, but please come together for Nathan to be the village Trent needs. Any funds raised will be put in an account in Trent’s name. This will be used for things like helping him purchase his first vehicle when that time comes, any extra curricular activities he may be interested in and potentially contributing to a college education. Things I know Nathan would have wanted and planned to assist with.

Id like to take a moment and thank you all for anything donated and appreciate so much all the love and support we have received through these tough times.
