Hi, my name is Dawn Showman, daughter of Donnie Showman. On May 13, 2024, my brother Nathan and I found our dad barely alive in his apartment after what we later learned was a massive stroke. The stroke covered 45% of his brain and left him in bad shape. With hopes for some sort of recovery after 5 weeks in ICU, Dad moved to a nursing home where he continued to make bits of progress until mid-September when he plateaued.

Last night (December 6, 2024), Dad had another stroke. The only response he was able to give was a hand squeeze if he didn't want to go to the hospital. So, it is with great sadness that I say he is now on comfort medications every hour with respect for his wishes. That being said, I am asking for help to lay our dad to rest.
