Hospice care for Dean

We want to express our appreciation and provide a brief update...

Dean peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He will be missed by so many, including his wife and children, his mother and father, and his sisters and brothers. We are overwhelmed by the tremendous level of love and support from each family, friends, and strangers. Each act of kindness, expression of sympathy, meal, and note means so much to us.

I'm not sure how many of you have heard about the recent journey our family has been walking, but we wanted to share in an effort to gain some support and much-needed prayer. Dean Kassube, father, and husband has faced multiple health challenges over the past few years and recently things have escalated to the point where he is now in hospice care facing his final days. After two weeks in the hospital in critical condition, Dean has been at Hoffman Hospice for the past couple of days, which has proved to be a huge blessing to both Dean and our family. Dean has been much more comfortable and has even said himself that he "feels better" since being there. However, Dean's insurance only has coverage for him to stay for 2 days. Therefore, we need to find a new facility this Wednesday. The facility where he has been this past year is really not set up well for hospice care. One of the biggest hurdles is that they don't allow for families to be there with him at night, so Dean may potentially pass alone at night without any family present. He will also have a roommate and it has no accommodations or even enough space, chairs, etc., to fit family or visitors.

Given Dean's situation, we have made the difficult choice to reach out for help on his behalf. It will cost $500 per day to keep him at Hoffman, which is above our means given our current financial situation. So, we would like to humbly ask that you pray for Dean and our family and consider giving to our cause to help give him a peaceful, comfortable place to live out his last days with his family by his side while he makes his journey to heaven. We are so appreciative of your prayers, as well as any gift, large or small. Thank you for your support over the years and we love all of you.
