Comfort for Mom: Your Help Matters

Hey Family. The Martinez siblings decided to do a GoFundMe for the one and only Ma/mami/mama. She’s known to us by different names.

As most of you know, mom’s health is slowly deteriorating. Mom's most difficult and painful time is when we are putting her to bed. Getting on the step stool requires us to literally hold her leg and bring it on top of the step stool. After she lets out a moan from the pain and sits on the bed, we have to help her lift her legs onto the bed. As she cries out in pain, she has to catch her breath with tears in her eyes from the struggle of getting into bed.

To make mom's life easier and painless when getting in and out of bed, we would like to purchase her a hospital bed. I know some of you will say that her Medicare insurance can pay for it, but we went that route twice. The first time we tried to get her a full-size electric bed, which the insurance denied. The second time they approved a twin-size semi-electric bed. The bed was worn out, dirty, and you had to manually crank it up and down. We sent it back.

We figured that since mom has family and friends who love and care about her, that we would be able to get her a comfortable, appropriate electric hospital bed. We will look into renting a bariatric hospital bed and will use the donated money towards the monthly payments. If we find an affordable bed we then we will purchase it. In the end we would like to donate the bed to an agency in the hopes that they will pass it on to someone who medically and financially needs it.
