Coming Together for Gavin's Mom's Family

UPDATE 10/9
After two of the hardest weeks we’ve ever had to endure we are finally back home in Florida. We just wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the unbelievable amount of love and support that was shown toward our family. Without everyone’s support we could not have made it through this. Your donations were used for a beautiful memorial service for Gavin in Maryland followed by a delicious meal where we enjoyed loving comfort from friends and family. The purchase of his gorgeous flower arrangements, Gavin’s memorial programs, our flights back home to Florida and other expenses. We will also be using your donations for Gavin’s remembrance celebration with family and friends here in Florida as this is where he lived the majority of his life. Please continue to keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we continue to deal with our unimaginable loss
***UPDATE***
UPDATE ON GAVIN
SEPT. 29 2019
Let me start with a HUGE Thank you to all those who have supported our family over this never ending week of grief. We have been so surrounded by Love.... I truly believe that is what has sustained us. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we tell you our Gavin passed away early this morning. His brain injuries were just to extensive to even allow him to ever wake up again. He never suffered one second from this accident. We were comforted to find out from a friend that the EMS at the scene said he never regained consciousness and was unresponsive. They held his hand the entire time, until he was extracted from the vehicle. Please continue to pray for our family. Our young man has touched so many lives and he is in the safest place he can be .... Jehovah Gods memory. We will be having a Memorial Service this Saturday October 5th for Gavin.. details to follow. We cannot express in words how thankful we are to each and everyone, for the love and support they have shown. Love, Amanda (Gavin’s mom) and Family ❤️
We would also like to say thank you for your donations. They have been instrumental in helping plan a memorial service here in Maryland for Gavin’s Mom’s family and friends. They will also be used to help plan a celebration of life event in Florida, where Gavin lived most of his life, shortly after the family’s return home. The family has been able to secure travel arrangements back home as well. Again, thank you for your love, support, and prayers

Gavin was involved in a horrific car accident on Friday 9/20 in Lothian, MD. Sitting in the back seat with his best friend after a high school football game, he had the rest of his life in front of him. The car was traveling at excessive speeds when it sheared a utility pole, rolled, and hit a tree. He had to wait an excruciating 10 minutes once firefighters arrived on the scene to be extricated from the vehicle. He was medevaced to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma center located in Baltimore, MD. Gavin is currently in a coma. He has 3 fractures in the vertebrae at the base of his skull, 2 fractures in his skull, a tear in his myelin sheath around his brain, a lacerated his liver, a broken sternum, abdominal bruising from him seatbelt, torn arteries in his intestines, several broken ribs, and worst of all he has experienced a traumatic brain injury including lesions on his brain stem. After 5 days in shock trauma, doctors concluded that Gavin will never recover from his injuries. He is an energetic, caring, compassionate young man who was full of life, loved people and loved being with his friends and family.
His mother Amanda, who lives in Florida, got the call on Saturday morning that the accident occurred. Scrambling to make sure her 3 young children and husband were taken care of, she booked a flight and headed to Maryland. Due to Gavin’s grave conditions, Amanda is spending as many hours as possible at the hospital. She is blessed with having friends and family near by that she is able to stay with, eliminating the cost of a hotel. However, food and travel expenses have already proved to be costly. The discounted cost of parking alone is $9 a day. On top of this there is the cost of gas and food. Her husband and other children have been flown to MD to be together during this difficult time. It is unknown the number of other trips that might have to take place for making arrangements. It is also unknown when they will be able to return to work. Your love, support, and prayers are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.
Gavin….you are our sunshine!
