Commissary for Incarcerated Folks in Aitkin, MN!
Donation protected
Hello! Thanks for visiting this GoFundMe for folks incarcerated at Aitkin County Jail in Minnesota.
The people running this fundraiser are a group that was arrested a few weeks ago for protesting the Line 3 pipeline extension. Out of the 200+ folks arrested, 25 or so of us ended up at Aitkin County Jail, where we spent two nights until we were bailed out.
Because we were such a large group of arrestees, the jail staff decided to put us in the jail’s gymnasium for our time there. This means that no one else incarcerated at the jail was given any daily recreation time while the 25 of us were there. To make up for that, and to show solidarity to folks we were incarcerated with, we’re aiming to send $50 in commissary money to each of the folks currently incarcerated there.
Commissary funds are used in jails and prisons to purchase life sustaining things: food, toiletries, letter writing supplies, phone calls with loved ones, and other things.
We hope you’ll support this solidarity effort. If we raise any extra money, we will figure out a way to distribute it equitably.
Thank you!!
