Raising funds for the artists of COMMUNION
Donation protected
In early 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic hit and changed life as we knew it. We were overcome with fear for the health and safety of our friends and families. The economy was collapsing and dancers and choreographers were suddenly completely unemployed. Theaters and galleries were shut down leaving us wondering when and where would we work again and who would be able to see it?
It was during this devastating time I created the project COMMUNION as a way to bring together dancers and composers from all over the world. I created 20 virtual duets with 40 incredible dancers and 8 accomplished composers all of whom donated their time and artistic works to make this project as successful as it has been.
We now have the opportunity to share COMMUNION on an even bigger platform. HERE Arts Center in lower Manhattan has recently curated the work for their virtual programming this spring season. One duet will be posted every week for 20 weeks starting February 5th and the project will culminate in a public installation where viewers can see the work in person, safely socially distanced opening June 3 and running until June 19 Thursdays through Saturdays 2-7pm.
Many non-profit arts spaces are struggling and unfortunately HERE Arts is no different. And although they cannot provide the full artist fees that could pay every contributing artist they have generously provided a platform to present COMMUNION, gotten us started with fundraising, and are promoting our campaign throughout the run. Thank you HERE Arts Center!!!
Here’s where you come in - and make a huge difference:
For the entire length of COMMUNION's run at HERE Arts Center, I will be running this GoFundMe campaign to secure artist fees for the nearly 50 artists included. Many have been partially or fully unemployed since the pandemic began and some may be struggling to make ends meet. Every dollar counts.
By supporting COMMUNION you are directly supporting individual artists.
100% of all donations received (after platform fees are accounted for) will go directly to the artists. The more we raise the more they will receive.
Please help us reach our goal! Any amount is deeply appreciated! Together we can support these essential workers who have made this last year bearable.
Every donation over $50 will receive a limited edition COMMUNION print from one of the duets in the series as our thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
