Community Care and Support for Kristin
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Olivia Hunte. As a dear friend of Kristin Toledo, I am supporting her during this devastating time by coordinating this fundraiser to help mitigate financial burdens. As some of you know, Kristin unexpectedly lost her youngest child and only son, Justin, in a tragic motorcycle accident the morning of her 44th birthday on September 11th. Justin was 19 years old and on his routine route to work at a job he loved. He proudly worked as a Service Writer at a local car dealership.
Personally, I cannot begin to imagine the heartbreak and pain present for Kristin. However, what I do know and can imagine is our beloved community showing up to support Kristin and her family during this time.
Due to the frustratingly exploitative nature of our society, the reality of burial expenses makes it almost impossible to give our loved ones the proper resting places they deserve. I would like Kristin to not have to experience financial strain as she grieves and honors Justin’s life. Thus, as an act of community care and mutual aid, I would love for us to do what we can to assist Kristin with reaching this goal.
As an artist, yoga instructor, and beloved community member, Kristin is consistent in showing up and getting to work. Whether it’s volunteering her time with beading classes or creating beadwork for fundraisers, sharing her homemade tinctures and other herbal remedies, teaching community yoga classes and volunteering as Treasurer through Satya Yoga Cooperative, or drop-in sessions at Aunty Rosie’s Rack (an Indigenous-owned thrift store) and the Karma House (a sobriety-support nonprofit), Kristin is skilled at engaging in community care. As an act of reciprocity, I would like for our financial contributions to pour into Kristin.
Thank you for your support.
With gratitude and in community,
Olivia
