*Selenia had another spinal tap last night around 4pm and the results are going to take several days to come back because they have to grow cultures in them again for proper examination. She had some blood and stool samples taken as well by the infectious disease doctor that have to be sent to the CDC in Georgia and those results will take 3-10 days to come back. Yesterday, she underwent two MRIs with contrast and without to rule out Cancer and they came back clear which is on the good side. As we are finding no answers yet we can’t say we’re safe out of the Cancer possibility. The lesions or spots in the brain are also a mystery still and docs are working on it. Today has been really hard for Selenia. They took a lot of spinal fluid and so her pain has reached a nuclear level and my knees are swollen from receiving fluid afterwords. She had hopes of going home for the waiting period as the samples and results are going to take time but looks like she will definitely will be here through the weekend.
Selenia wants to convey to the community how grateful she is to have so much support from y’all. She has had an overwhelming response of love and care from her friends and is incredibly moved by it. With the difficulty of this pain with no diagnosis yet the love y’all are showing is keeping her going. Thank you deeply and we will continue to update as we get more information. *
Hi, community. Our friend Selenia is in need of your help. What's going on: Selenia is in the hospital right now after 8 weeks of severe pain, vertigo and pressure headaches. Two weeks ago she was admitted to ICU with a suspected brain aneurysm which was ruled out but left no answers with symptoms still present. The neurologist handling her case suspected a Cerebral Spinal Fluid Leak. Friday morning she woke up with her ear leaking in which she was directed by Neurologist to go to the emergency room. They found her with a fever, infection and Meningitis and confirmed a CSF leak. After an additional MRI Saturday they found 10 nodules in her brain. At this point, the oncology team and Infectious Disease team is working on her case to rule out the possibility of cancer or parasitic infection. She is currently hospitalized undergoing additional Spinal Taps and more MRI scans to find more answers. This has been a frustrating and agonizing experience for Selenia. Why Selenia needs financial help: As many of you know, there is a current writers' strike going on. Selenia has been currently living on her savings because she does not have any remaining Unemployment. She will be losing her insurance on September 1st. She is working with a social worker for disability insurance as well, but has not been approved as of yet. It is extremely difficult for Selenia to ask for financial help but the reality of the imminent cost of COBRA to extend her health insurance while being unable to work is overwhelming. We are asking for assistance to help cover Selenia's rent and bills for the upcoming 3 months while she navigates this. This is an ongoing issue so we will be updating this as she gets more answers. If you know Selenia you know she lives with her heart first. She works hard, loves harder and we need her to get better. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated...we love all of you.
