Community Caring Scholarship to Honor Kate!

It goes without saying that Kate Spaeth was known in our community. Known for her bubbly demeanor, willingness to help, desire to promote positive community growth, and gentle spirit. Kate made friends wherever she went.

Sadly, Kate's story ended early. Just 20 years after graduating from DLHS, Kate passed on to the heavens.

Kate dedicated her days to serving the DL Community. She joined the Detroit Lakes Chapter of the MN Jaycees in 2015 and quickly became the heart of the group. She held many positions including local chapter president, and also served as Admiral of our celebrated Water Carnival. She tirelessly lead the DL Jaycee chapter. Each new member quickly felt her welcome and became fast friends. Kate was just recently honored with the title of 91st State President of the MN Jaycees. In every effort, she served with a smile and kind words to all. Most of all, she wanted everyone to have a great time.

Kate was a true showing of what it means to volunteer. Her proudest moments were the events and instances where the Jaycee family was able to dedicate funds or lend a hand to those in our community who deserved it most.

In an effort to honor her love of leadership and community, her many friends and family would like to give back. By raising funds for a scholarship in her name, we would endow young graduates looking to lead and give back, like Kate so very much loved to do. Her torch is not out, she has just handed it to the next in line.
