Water Wheel Fire & Medical District: Excellence in Service
The Water Wheel Fire & Medical District in Arizona exemplifies professionalism and dedication, staffed 24/7 by committed professionals serving our community. Despite operating on a very limited budget, every expense is directed towards community service.
Our current station, built in the 1970s, lacks the funds for necessary renovations. Our station serves as a community hub, open to all members of the community. We are in desperate need of funds to finish our renovation project for our community and make our station a place to host more events in a safe and welcoming environment.
Our district covers approximately 52 square miles, located 9 miles northeast of Payson, Arizona, at the base of the majestic Mogollon Rim. Positioned at an elevation exceeding 5,100 feet above sea level, we are surrounded by the natural beauty of the Tonto National Forest and serve 16 small mountain communities.
The district is home to a permanent population of around 4,000 residents, primarily retired or semi-retired individuals. During the summer, our population swells to nearly 20,000, drawn by recreational opportunities and the presence of two large Scout Camps. As an all-risk response agency, we provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) first response services.
