Community Fundraise for Shewly Roy and Family

Representing the local NJ Indian diaspora, we are in solidarity with Shewly Roy as a valued member of our united family and a remarkable contributor to our community. She has endured a devastating loss with the passing of her husband, Dibyendu Roy on June 24, 2023. Dibyendu was the sole provider for the family and is survived by their only daughter, Shweta. His unfortunate demise resulting from a failed heart transplant following the breaking of a stent at the time of implant after a severe heart attack culminated in a year-long struggle. Not to mention the agony and unreeling pain of the emotional roller coaster, that has been lived through during this period, the financial stress with depleted savings, loss of income, and future insecurity caused the ultimate havoc with ever-lasting impact.

In this prolonged and routine torment in daily life, one of the most unfortunate consequences is its profound impact on young Shweta. Tragically, she lost her father when she had just begun college. Shweta's educational journey was abruptly interrupted, and now she aspires to resume her studies, aiming to achieve a college degree and attain self-independence to support her mother.

Shewly Roy, famously known as Shewly Di or Boudi, is renowned within our Indian community for her exceptional culinary skill in authentic Bengali cuisine. At our local NJ Indian/Bengali community festivals, she played a pivotal role in bringing the richness of authentic Bengali food culture.

As an extended family, we have the opportunity to provide support during this challenging period. This fundraising initiative serves as a humble gesture to restore a sense of normalcy to the lives of a mother (Shewly Di) and her daughter (Shweta).
