Community living expenses for Stephanie Strein

As some of you may already know, our daughter Stephanie Strein is a beautiful soul who happens to have Down Syndrome. She has been living in a semi-independent living situation on and off, which has been a dream come true for her and for us as parents. We all long for the freedom to come and go as we please, to have our own space and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life without restrictions.

However, as you can imagine, this kind of living arrangement requires significant support and services to make it work. Stephanie's father, Bill, was a pillar of strength in helping us navigate this journey and make it a reality for her. Sadly, Bill's sudden passing has left us devastated emotionally and financially. We are now facing a significant setback in our efforts to support Stephanie in fulfilling her dreams.

The truth is, many of the housing supports that are available to families like ours are incredibly restrictive and can feel like mini institutions, imposing confinement upon our children. Stephanie needs a lot of support to maintain her semi-independent living situation in her community. Without it, there is a very real risk that she could be institutionalized and lose everything she, Bill and I have worked so hard for.

We are reaching out to you today with a humble request for your financial support to help Stephanie on her continuing "Road to Independence". Planning for her future is everything, and we cannot do it alone. Please know that any donations you make will go towards Stephanie's care and well-being, as well as helping her to achieve her dreams. It's important to note that Stephanie cannot receive donations directly because it would affect her very limited funding.
